TCP Server Setup
Nova includes the capability to act as a TCP server of satellite data.
Activate this function from the Main Menu, Setup/TCP.
The
Bindings box contains information about the IP addresses permitted to
make connections to Nova. IP addresses and ports listed in the Bindings
box will be permitted to connect to Nova's TCP server and others will be
forbidden. For unrestricted access, such as over a local intranet, there
are usually no entries here.
To make or edit entries in the Bindings table, click the
Edit button. This will open another
window.
In the region below the Bindings box, Default Port
refers to the port that will be used if no Bindings are specified. Default is 8090 for no particular
reason.
Checking Active will activate the port when this window is
closed with the OK button. If Active has been checked, then the port will
always be active when Nova starts.
Upon establishing a connection, the client will receive a string "Hello,
this is Nova for Windows."
Upon receipt of the command SUMMARY, Nova will
reply with a string containing
position data for the current AutoTracking satellite. This string is
identical to the string delivered via DDE.
Note: The TCP server is still in development and the format/contents
of its commands and returned information may change. Suggestions are welcome.
