Resetting Nova to its Internal Defaults

Depending on the version of Nova for Windows that you are updating from, you may experience weird or strange behavior upon completing an update of the program.  For example, Views may appear garbled, error message may appear for no apparent reason, etc.   If this is the case, then you may want to reset Nova for Windows to its internal defaults.  A less drastic option is also available.

Two methods are available:

Method 1 : With Nova running, go to File/Reset to defaults in the main menu.  Select this option and click Yes when prompted.

Method 2 : With Nova NOT running, click on the Windows Start button (lower left corner of the screen).  Select Run.  In the "run" box, type (or browse to) the folder containing Nova for Windows:

By default, this is C:\Program files\Northern Lights Software Associates\Nova for Windows.  Select NfW32.EXE from this folder.  Then ADD a space and the letter D after the entry.  See the example below.  Click on the Open button and Nova will be launched with its internal defaults.
